The continuous casting roller is a key component of the continuous casting machine, playing important roles such as supporting, guiding, driving and cooling the cast billet during the continuous casting process.
High strength and high rigidity: During the continuous casting process, the continuous casting roller has to withstand various loads such as the weight of the cast billet, the static pressure of molten steel, and the frictional force generated during the billet pulling process. Therefore, it is necessary to have sufficient strength and rigidity to prevent deformation and fracture, and ensure the normal transportation and forming of the cast billet.
Good wear resistance: When the cast billet moves on the continuous casting roller, it will rub against the roller surface. Long-term friction will cause wear on the roller surface. To ensure the service life of the continuous casting roller and the surface quality of the cast billet, the continuous casting roller must have good wear resistance and be able to resist the wear effect of the cast billet.
Excellent heat resistance: During the continuous casting process, the continuous casting roller comes into direct contact with the high-temperature cast billet, and the temperature of the roller surface can reach several hundred degrees. Therefore, continuous casting rollers need to have good heat resistance, maintaining stable performance in high-temperature environments and avoiding problems such as deformation, softening or cracking due to overheating.
Good corrosion resistance: During the continuous casting process, the continuous casting roller will come into contact with various corrosive media, such as impurities in cooling water and molten steel. Therefore, the continuous casting roller needs to have a certain degree of corrosion resistance to prevent the roller surface from being corroded, which may affect the quality of the cast billet and the service life of the continuous casting roller.
Precise dimensional accuracy and surface roughness: To ensure the dimensional accuracy and surface quality of the cast billet, the dimensional accuracy and surface roughness of the continuous casting roller are required to be very high. Unevenness or excessive dimensional deviation of the roller surface can lead to defects such as scratches and cracks on the surface of the cast billet, affecting the quality of the cast billet and subsequent processing.
