The wearing cannot be avoided for side guide against from strip edge during hot rolling process because of the limitation of equipment and process controlling. And this situation will become worse if C-shape strip edge occurs. The increased workload resulted by highly frequent replacement will limit the producing capacity.
Therefore, our company has designed the side guide with vertical wheels which avoids many frequent replacements, improvs the quality of strip edge, meanwhile increases line capacity.
The wearing is too much for RM side guide during recoiling because the strip hardness and strength are increased when the temperature decreases sharply after finishing rolling and cooling. The result is that each shift is requested to weld and grind the side guides.
The side guide with wheels is designed by our company for steel plates over than 2.5mm thickness and the disc side guide will be designed for steel plates lower than 2.5mm thickness to improve the quality of strip edge, extend the service life of side guide.
